Don't Read & Commute During Rush Hour

I get it, the subway ride is kind of boring. I mean how many times can you read about the miraculous work of Dr. Zizmor but you know what- when the train is packed you don't get to open your paper up and peruse the local news while your paper rests in someone's face or takes up a whole spot that another person could be standing in.Furthermore, when walking through the train station and up/down the stairs FOCUS! You can't read and walk at the same time; I've seen you try, I've been behind you while you tried and it's REALLY annoying.

Hey you -leaning against the pole so no one else has anything to hang on to! Move!

The poles are for people to hang on to (multiple people). There is absolutely no reason to wrap your whole body around the pole (unless you are practicing your stripper moves and even then I think you should wait until after rush hour) and DO NOT LEAN on the pole while you read your paper. Remember what you learned in elementary school "sharing is caring"

Who needs to carry that much that stuff to work!?

First of all, unless you are leaving the country you do not need to carry a backpack that can hold all of your earthly possessions. But let's just say you do need to carry a good deal of stuff with you on a particular day. If the train is crowded TAKE THE BACKPACK OFF OF YOUR BACK AND put it down to the side. Pleeeaasseee don't take up 3 spots on the already crowded train with your enormous backpack.

Stop trying to fit, there are too many people on this train!

I live on the East Side and must say that even on a good day rush hour on the subway is horrendous. However, there are those people who make the experience sooooooo much worse. Let's all agree that it's early in the morning, the trains are too crowded and a not so miserable subway ride would at least help us to start the day on a good note. WAIT until people exit the train before you get on. There is a small opening that a lot of people have to enter and exit through and it makes no sense to fight your way through the crowd of people coming out. You make EVERYONE mad, the people trying to get off the train, the people who are waiting properly to get on the train and it is not going to be fun for you-- They even have these nice guidelines painted on the platform that says 'Step Aside' so you know exactly where to wait. The proper procedure is to wait on the side; let everyone come out and then and only then should you get on the train.
